Dressage is for every rider! I sometimes hear people say ‘I don’t like dressage, jumping is much more fun!’, and yes I tend to agree when it comes to competition. But, if you want to jump well, then you need to work on dressage, so that you can get from one jump to the next in the best possible way. If you want your horse to last, and to avoid soundness problems and soreness, then you need to help him develop the ability to work in the best possible way and carry himself correctly. If you want your horse to enjoy his job and to be able to perform his work more easily then you need to work on dressage.
